For many of us, taking a weekend getaway trip to Berkeley, California is going to be right up our alley. Obviously, there is the incredibly famous University and all of the interesting and wonderful people who live here because they go to school at this prestigious institution. There’s so much to do if you’re a foodie, a shopper, or you happen to love art. So if you’re really into different cultural experiences, you’ll certainly appreciate Berkeley and everything that it has to offer.
There are many things to do while here. Obviously, visiting UC Berkeley should be on the top of your list. They have guided tours of the campus or you can take time out of your busy day to explore the area on your own. Even better, if you feel like popping in your earbuds and listening to your MP3 player, they have even created a podcast with the guided tour on it.
Some of the big highlights when visiting UC Berkeley include Sather Tower, the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive, the campus museum collections, and if you love shopping, visit the cross streets Bancroft Avenue and Telegraph Avenue for some exciting shopping on the weekend because there’s some great street markets there for all to enjoy.
On the other hand, if you’re into food, you’re going to really love this place because there are so many exquisite restaurants that it’s hard to keep track of them all. If you’re into wine tasting, we highly recommend checking out Takara Sake because this place is amazing and they figured out how to put a new and interesting twist on the wine tasting experience. Beer lovers will fall head over heels in love with Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room and/or The Rare Barrel, so you’ll have plenty of great food and lots of wonderful drinks to enjoy while visiting these dining hotspots.
Theater lovers are also in for an amazing treat because you’ll have the opportunity to discover Berkeley Rep for the first time. This theater is wonderful because they have plenty of revivals and old-style Broadway musicals to get your heart pumping. Plus, they also have many other memorable shows that you’ll truly enjoy with family and friends or anyone else you decide to bring to the theater.
As you can see, there’s plenty to do in Berkeley during a weekend getaway. If any of this sounds appealing to you, we highly recommend checking it out the next time you plan to get away for the weekend.
Death Valley, California
Visiting Death Valley on the weekend is certainly a great way to spend your time, even though it may sound like one of the scariest experiences in your life! Don’t worry because you’ll be absolutely fine and 100% safe visiting this exciting part of California.
We highly recommend visiting Death Valley National Park because there are so many stimulating and exhilarating things to see and do. While you’re there, we recommend you take time to check out this beautiful national park because it’s perfect for those who love stargazing, taking photographs, and hiking the gorgeous trails.
If you are an early riser, we highly recommend rising with the sun because it’s one of the most beautiful experiences you’ll ever have in your life. The night skies are very clear and the nearest city is many miles away, so you can spend time outside and gaze at the stars without any distractions. Rhyolite Ghost Town is also exciting because there’s unique architecture and concrete buildings that are currently in ruins, so it looks like a scary ghost town from the old Southwest.
La Jolla, California
La Jolla – meaning “the jewel” – is a great place to visit if you’re into shopping, art galleries, beautiful coastal views, and some of the best beaches that California has to offer. This high end, upper echelon location is perfect for those interested in spending time on the beach, kayaking, enjoying a romantic getaway, or having a fun filled family outing with you and your spouse and kids.
It’s also one of the best destinations for foodies because they have great restaurants, fine wine, and some of the top rated eateries in the San Diego area. So if you really want to relax, unwind, and have a great time, you should definitely visit La Jolla at your earliest convenience. And if you love the theater, the La Jolla Playhouse is bound to entertain and enliven your imagination.
